Buhari Is a Beer Parlor Gossip- Obasanjo Hits Back At President over $16bn Power Jab

Following the statements of President Buhari yesterday over the perceived mismanagement of the power sector by former President Obasanjo, the Ogun state native has made his rejoinder on the matter, calling out Buhari and expressing his disappointment that the President would sink to such depths.

Recall that Buhari while speaking to members of the Buhari Support Organisation, led by the Comptroller-General of Nigerian Customs Service, Hameed Ali, said that Obasanjo had wasted $16bn on the Power sector with no significant improvement.

“One of the former Heads of State between that time was bragging that he spent more than 15 billion American dollars, on power,”Buhari claimed

“Where is the power? Where is the power? And now we have to pay the debts.”

While not calling Obasanjo by name, it was obvious that he was the target of these statements.

Obasanjo responded in a statement signed by Mr Akin Osuntokun, Director of Strategic Communications of the Coalition for Nigeria Movement.

Obasanjo said; “Is it not beneath the dignity of the exalted office he holds to join the chorus of beer parlour gossips?”

“How can a president who has all the information at his beck and call degenerate to this level?”

Obasanjo also denied spending such an amount.

He added: “A presidential panel headed by the then VP Goodluck Jonathan set up by the Umaru Yar’Adua government put a lie to this after the same administration had sacked one Engr F. Somolu the then Secretary of NIPP who first drew attention to the lie: that $16 had been spent on power project.

“The Panel made up of so many actors including CBN officials then found out that only $3.7 billion was disbursed out of the $10 billion budgeted and the balance was kept in an escrow account at the CBN.

“The CBN confirmed this to the panel and it was published…It was then found out that Tanimu Yakubu then Economic Adviser to President Yar’Adua began the propaganda against former President Obasanjo and Engr. Somolu then with Yar’Adua wrote a secret memo inside the state house to correct the wrong notion about $10 billion.

EVERY SYCOPHANT IS A KILLER (A Poem Composed by Aare Tunde Dawood-Akerele )

Sycophancy!

Fake compliments

Full of insincerity, lies

To gain favour from others

Only self-serving favour, gains

By firing the soul of admirers

The beneficiaries, the victims

Two in one, at the same time.

Obsequious flattery

A powerful weapon

Used by servile lickspittle

To gain some advantages

Not minding the aftermath

On the other end, uncaring

Sycophancy can ruin, can kill.

A sycophant

Calls a king god

Calls a boss lord

Calls a pastor Jesus Christ

Calls an Imam Muhammad

Calls a contestant honourable

Call a moneybag alpha and omega

He uses pen, words or social media

A sycophant

Spurs his oga

To overspend

To act overlordly

To inflate self glory

To feel too superior

To assume demigoddess

To look down on other ones

A sycophant can ruin, can kill.

Sycophancy!

All need to fear

All need to hate

A visa to oblivion

An expressway to limbo

A smooth path to Armageddon

A fast lane to everlasting annihilation

A sycophant can ruin, can kill, can fail.

Sycophancy!

A snare by toady

Set to catch anyone

Who cares to embrace lies

Be it in churches or mosques

Palaces or offices, among friends

But more common in social events

Beer cafe, mostly in political arenas

Where opportunities abound everyday.

When the chips are down

The flunkies, the parasites disappear

Like birds at instance of gunshot

Run away, never come back

Begin to blame the fool

For his foolhardiness

For his failure to discern, or

For buying into cheap praises

A sycophant, a killer, a deserter.

To avoid ruination

Chase the flatterer away

Listen not to fake panegyric

Tell him to say just the truth

Nothing but bitter truth, truth

That’s hotter like a running engine

Than a slap by a toddler, teenager

That’s harder than a palm of a trekker

That’s as sour as vinegar, piles, nuts

That describes the scenario, as it is

That paints the pictures, as they are.

IGP Plotting To Implicate Me – Saraki Informs Colleagues.

My Distinguished colleagues, there is an issue which I need to bring to your attention very urgently.

Last night, my State Governor, Dr. Abdulfatai Ahmed revealed to me an information at his disposal that a group of suspects who had been in police cells for several weeks for cultism and whose investigation had been concluded with prosecution about to commence under the State law based on the advice of the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) and the Ministry of Justice were ordered to be transferred to Abuja this morning.

According to the information available to the Governor, the Inspector General of Police, Mr. Idris Ibrahim directed the Commissioner of Police in Kwara State to immediately transfer the men to the Force Headquarters.

The plan, as the Governor was made to understand is that, under duress, the suspects would be made to alter the statements they already made in Ilorin. They will then be made to implicate the Kwara State Government, and in particular, myself, in their new statement.

This plot is part of the strategy by the IGP Idris to settle scores over the declaration by this honourable Chamber that he is not qualified and competent to hold any public office, within and outside the country and that he is an enemy of Nigerian democracy based on his usual disrespectful conduct towards lawful authorities.

In my own view,  this plot is an act of desperation, blackmail, intimidation, abuse of office and crude tactics aimed at turning our country  into a Police State where top officials cannot be made to obey the law, follow due process and subject themselves to constituted authorities.

I want to bring this dangerous development to the attention of all of you my colleagues, the entire country and the international community so that you can be aware of the level of impunity in our country and the danger it constitute to our democracy.

Thank you, all

Sen. Abubakar Bukola Saraki, CON.
