"My Priority Is To Provide Jobs For Anambra Youths" – Hotel Mogul Umenwobi Henry

Who is De Don?

My name is Umenwobi Abuchi Henry (JP). I am the CEO of New World lounge and Las Vegas night club, Awka, Anambra State. I’m from Ezinifite Aguata local government Area in Anambra State. I grew up in Ezinifite before heading to Bauchi to learn trading. After that I came to Awka where I resided briefly before traveling abroad.

How long did you stay abroad?

I stayed for about 8 years because, no matter where I  go my heart is always in Nigeria.

Since your arrival how would you describe your experience?

Well, so far so good.  I saw a lot of nice changes especially in Anambra State. I was surprised to see that the state is one of the safest in Nigeria now thanks to chief Willie Obaino. People can move freely at any time now.

What inspired you to go into hospitality business?

OK,  I’ll say that the major reason I went into hospitality business is because, since I was a kid I’ve always told myself that I’ll like to do something that will benefit people. So when I came back from abroad I thought of many business ideas,  but later settled on building hotels and clubs. Because first it’ll employ many people, provide the people a place to rest and a place to enjoy themselves. You can imagine my joy when I see people propose to their girlfriends every week at my club. It also gladdens my heart to see happy couples coming to my hotel for honeymoon. There are so many positive experiences but I can only name a few.

How were you able to build New World Hotel and Las Vegas Night Club into one of the most popular tourist destinations in Anambra State?

I’ll say it all boils down to good service. We always make sure that our customers are well treated. That keeps them coming back. Next is security. I’ll say that our place is one of the safest places people can lodge or club with rest of mind. Then the types of events we host to appease the customers matters too.  People love our activities such as, the white party, which attracts the high and the mighty in Anambra State. We also hosts Jersey party which involves people coming out wearing their clubs’ jerseys. I’ll say it’s been one of the most successful parties hosted in Las Vegas night club. We also do champagne Night,  which as the name implies is all about champagne. We have 30 queens,  where we host reigning pageantry winners from across the state. There’s also Arabian nights where the biggest boys and the biggest girls don Arabian attires. It’s really a sight to behold. We’re introducing two new parties,  one is the Mask party which is coming up on Friday the 29th of June 2018, and the second one is celebrity night,  which involves hosting popular celebrities once a month in the club. That doesn’t mean that celebs have not been frequenting our place. People like Terry G, D Prince,  Vector, Nkoli Nwa Nsuka,  Zubee Michael, Award winning film producer Lawrence Lurrenzo Onuzulike,  Junior pope and host of others do visit our outfits.

How would you rate hospitality business in the Eastern part of the country, most especially Anambra?

I would say that my people are trying. Since the change in the security level of the state, hospitality business has surged dramatically. The  biggest issue hindering growth is lack of electricity. I ran desel daily every year.  It takes a lot from the business. But I don’t think that’s just an Anambra issue. I think it’s more of Nigeria’s issue.

It’s no doubt you’re a massive employer of youths. How has it been managing them?

I won’t lie to you, it hasn’t been easy. In every twelve apostles there must be a Judas. But we deal with them with patience and most importantly we train them always and ensure they know whats required of them at the work place. In all, I’ll say it’s God that helps us.

What are some of your plans in changing the face of hospitality business in Anambra State?

I won’t it call it plans because I’m already doing things to change the face of hospitality in Anambra State. I didn’t just build a hotel and a club and then went home to rest. Instead, I work with talented  and creative people on a daily basis to keep dishing out fun activities and expanding our businesses to accommodate more customers and provide more jobs. Oh, let me add that due to the quality of our hotel and clubs and the standard we set,  most people coming home from abroad like to stay and club with us.

Why did you choose to invest heavily in Anambra State?

If it was a few years ago, I won’t have taken the risk. But as I said earlier, when I returned to Nigeria I was shocked by the level of security in the state, again thanks to governor Willie Obaino. And also it’s my home state, they say Charity begins at home. If I don’t develop my state who will? It would’ve been a very big disappointment for me to travel abroad and see many things and not bring as much as possible back home, so that when white people visit Nigeria they will see that we are a modern society too.  We can’t leave everything to the government.

What do you think of the current political situation in Nigeria?

In every positive there are some negatives, and in every  negative there are some positives. I won’t say the current political situation is the best or the worst.  I’ve learned to have some positives out of every situation.

What do you think of Governor Obaino’s leadership?

I think he’s trying. If you noticed I’ve mentioned security many times. It’s because businesses won’t thrive without security and he has provided that. Most people of Anambra State are very proud of him. But like I always said, we need power supply in the state, after security and good roads,  power supply is very important. This is crippling many businesses not just only those in hospitality.

Do you think Governments at the state and the national levels deserved another term in office?

If I answer the question based on how I’m being favoured,  then my answer will be biased.  I’ll rather say it depends on Nigerians in general to decide.  At this point I’m calling everyone  to come out with their PVCs and vote for what’s better for the country and  for my state.

From our little research, people of Anambra loves you immensely because of your philanthropic nature. Do you plan to ride the popularity wave and join   politics?

If I’m to follow the way people have been pushing me I would’ve been into politics long before now.   c don’t know about the future but for now I’m more focused on providing jobs for the youths and doing things that will benefit my people.

NIGERIA POLITICIANS NEED TO STOP USING  POLITICAL THUGGERY BUT  RATHER MAKE USE OF PRIVATE SECURITY COMPANIES

BY OBADIMU ADEYEMI VERON

No Nigerian politician can boast of not been guilty of  using political thugs to implement their wish at the pooling units during and after election for their political selfish interests.

Nigeria as a nation is full of shame and sorrow, at times when our so called leaders makes laws and are expected to leads the citizens by examples are found guilty of the same offense they made law to curb common man not to engage in, when they are the real beneficiary of political thuggery.

As a nation we need not use political thugs during or after election, why did we have professional  security companies in this country?  I don’t blame youths who involved in political thuggery because that is the only time they can see and enjoy politicians, some don’t have other source  of living than to wait for politician to use them for political thuggery and give them money and cars to feed and maintain their families.

If we take a look at people who are involved in this act, you will discovered that they are jobbers, hungry and lazy youths, Their ineptitude is what leads them to robbery after not seeing up to what they expected . It is a very big slap on the youths atleast this new generation, just imagine Nigeria as a nation number 3 citizens senate president Olubukola saraki was implicated in the recent offa bank robbery all in the name of harbouring of thugs and empowering them.

Enough of evidence were produced by the IGP Interligent Unit to back up all their verification and investigation and confessions from the 4 man gang leaders that SP/Senator Bukola Saraki knew all these robbers that were involved in offa  bank robbery, all because they are all his political thugs that were loyal to him. This act will not stop if Federal government don’t find something to do to stop politicians from using thugs during election, but they won’t because they are the beneficiary of this thuggery including FG.

Another house of Assembly member from Ogun state  Honorable Yinka Mafe was also mentioned by some suspected cultist that he is their political God father, they work for him they said.
But if it was a common man who is not a politician was mentioned of this such offenses he would have been in prison by now.

Conclusively, i will urge  the Federal Government to partner with some private and well equipped security companies and always contract them during   campaign and stop using political thugs to save the youths from engagements in social vices and other related crimes in the society.

Let us use Nazcam security company as a case study,  Nazcam security company is a well known and registered company in Nigeria both home and abroad,  this company have well trained security experts with military background, trained in USA,Ukraine,Germany,Spain,France,Russia with wide range of experience in political party rally,VIP escorts, airport pick up,security for big companies,Expatriates and Tourism people who are on visit in Nigeria,Nazcam security has over 15 years of experience in security field throughout Europe.

If foreigners can know the value of what we have here in Nigeria why can’t we also benefit from this company in Nigeria and other private and experts companies we have in this nation.

Will use this medium to urge politicians to patronize NAZCAM SECURITY COMPANY as Osun 2018 and 2019 election is gathering momentum. whatsapp and call CEO Of this company on +34652010236, 08099223713, 08139267127.

I will like to personally persuade all youths across the country to let us stop this politicians from using us as a political thuggery.

WHY WE MISSED ABIOLA’S GCFR INVESTITURE – IBB, OBASANJO

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo and ex-military Head of State, Ibrahim Babangida, were absent at the conferment of the title of Grand Commander of the Federal Republic (GCFR) on late Chief MKO Abiola on Tuesday.
President Muhammadu Buhari today bestowed the GCFR title on Abiola for his victory at the annulled June 12, 1993, presidential election.
Babangida, who was conspicuously absent at the event, had truncated Abiola’s dream of becoming president when he annulled the 1993 election which was deemed the fairest presidential election in Nigeria’s history.
In his letter to the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, Babangida sighted health grounds as the reason for his absence at the event.
On his part, Obasanjo lauded the Federal Government for its GCFR bestowal on late Abiola and his running, Baba Gana Kingibe, who received the award of the Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger (GCON) alongside human rights activist, Gani Fawehinmi.
The former president, however, said in his letter to the SGF that he couldn’t attend the investiture ceremony because he is out of the country.
Also conspicuously absent at the ceremony were Senate President Bukola Saraki and Speaker Yakubu Dogara amongst others.

Reps hopeful lauds Daniel, Kashamu for peace initiative

A 2019 House of Representatives hopeful for Ijebu Central Federal  Constituency, Barrister Taiwo Shote (BTS), has lauded the former Governor of Ogun State, Otunba Gbenga Daniel and the lawmaker representing Ogun East Senatorial District, Senator Buruji Kashamu, for their decision to resolve their differences, saying it will reunite and reposition the Ogun State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ahead of the 2019 general election.

In a statement issued by his media office on Tuesday, Shote described “the decision of both leaders to end their age-long political differences as divinely-inspired, especially in this Holy month of Ramadan”.

The statement reads in part: “As one of the few people who saw first-hand the camaraderie, respect and love that both leaders showed towards each other when they met in Abuja last week, I can say it is the beginning of bigger and better things to come the way of our great party, the PDP in Ogun State.

“His Excellency, Otunba Gbenga Daniel is an experienced politician, leader and proven  organiser. Senator Kashamu is a political strategist and a grassroot mobilizer. Nothing is as good as having both of them under one umbrella.

“The electorate have not been happy that the party that brought so much development to Ogun State is in disarray. They have been yearning for reconciliation and unity. That is what our leaders have begun and it behoves on all of us as followers to key into it.

“Our party now has an unbeatable team to tackle the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and displace it. We are approaching 2019 elections as a formidable team.”

Shote urged party faithful to swing into action in their respective local government areas and wards by spreading the gospel of the unity of the foremost leaders of the party to the electorate.

“We need to let them know that our leaders – His Excellency,  Otunba Gbenga Daniel (Governor of Ogun State 2003 -2011) and Distinguished Senator Buruji Kashamu – have hearkened to their plea, resolved their differences and reunited,” Shote said.

He also commended the lawmaker Representing Bayelsa East Senatorial District, Senator Ben-Murray Bruce for seeing through the peace initiative.

DREAM: UNTIL I’M THERE (A Poem Composed Aare Tunde Dawood-Akerele)

It’s a dream
Conceived by no one but me
To be pursued by no one but me
Aim at greatness, fame and legendary
Until its accomplishment, until I’m there.

It’s a dream.
Aiming greatness
Set for all that it takes
Not minding the morass
Ignoring those pessimists
More among friends than foes
Fewer among strangers than relations
Scheming with different antics, games
Aiming at quenching the salvos, flames
Questioning my vision and doggedness
Querying His unwavering supports, aids
Oh! Sometimes seems losing the battles
But never I quit until I’m there and no less.

Truly, it’s hard like a nut
Seldom feel like quitting
Or like saying bye to it
Running away from it
Resigning to fate
Abandoning it
As it tarries
To quit?
But no!
Until
Done.

It’s a dream!
The name will ring
The world will hear
And will tell the next
A footprint must be left
Like those that had gone
That had achieved greatly
Whose names last evergreen
Etched in gold, on the marble
Quoting, mentioning, using daily
Never I relent until I’m there, it’s done.

It’s a dream
That mustn’t die
I’d stand unawed by all odds
Keep its flame burning glowingly
Lean on His grace, mercy and blessings
Until the world raises it hands, clap for me
Says well done, kudos, gracias, thank you.
Until I stand tall, tell the world, it’s done. I’m there.

Obasanjo raises alarm, accuses Buhari of plotting his arrest on false charges

The former leader said the government was planning to use fake documents and witnesses against him.

Mr Obasanjo said this in a statement by his media aide, Kehinde Akinyemi, on Friday.

The claim is the latest twist after weeks of bitter exchanges between the two leaders, who fell apart after Mr Obasanjo accused Mr Buhari or ineptitude and corruption, and advised him not to seek reelection.

Mr Buhari responded recently by accusing his predecessor of frittering away $16 billion on phoney electricity projects. Mr Obasanjo hit back at the “ignorant” claim.

Speaking via his aide on Friday, the former president said plans to silence him were in two fold, among which is a plot to cause the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to reopen investigation into the activities of his administration.

He said the Buhari administration had also perfected a plan to use fake documents and witnesses against him. He said this will be a re-enactment of the Abacha era in which he (Obasanjo) was detained on trumped up charges.

The presidency could not be immediately reached for comments.

The former president said he had been told that his name was on the government’s “watch list”, and that the security of his life cannot be guaranteed

ALAKE APPRECIATES BUHARI FOR RECOGNIZING JUNE 12 AS THE DEMOCRACY DAY.

The Alake of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Gbadebo has reacted to President Muhammadu Buhari’s posthumous recognition of MKO Abiola, as the winner of June 12, 1993 Presidential Election, as a Past President as well as according him with all honors due to the late business mogul.

Speaking to Pressmen at the Ake Palace today, Oba Adedotun Gbadebo commended President Buhari for living up to the long awaited expectation of the larger majority of Nigerians.

For recognizing Abiola and declaring June 12 as the Democracy Day in place of May 29, the Alake said that President Buhari had taken a momentous decision which will endear him to posterity.

He explained that it would not be fair to assume that President Buhari took the decision for political reasons.

Oba Adedotun Gbadebo pointed out that Buhari was known for his proverbial propriety and sense of justice adding that it was better late than ever.

He said that he was not blaming any earlier administrations that could have done justice to MKO Abiola, but Buhari had finally made both the Egba Nation and the Nigerians in general that Nigeria could still celebrate the freest and the most credible Presidetial election ever in Nigeria.

Oba Gbadebo urged all Egba at home and abroad to appreciate President Buhari for making it possible for Egba alone to have officially produced three Presidents with National Honour of GCFR, which, the Egba Monarch argued, they earned and justifiably deserved.
