EDUCATION: OGUN ABSORBS 28 COMMUNITY SCHOOLS, 577 TEACHERS
Ogun State Government has taken over the management of 28 community schools across the state.
The State Government also absorbed 577 teachers in these schools into its civil service system.
A statement by Kunle Somorin, Chief Press Secretary to Governor Dapo Abiodun said the state government took the decision because most of the community schools were insolvent.
Speaking further, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Primary, Secondary and Vocational Education, Mrs Aderonke Soyombo said the primary interest was the interest in and number of children that would be affected if they were not absorbed.
“The number of children to be affected if the absorption wasn’t done would have risen to over 9,000,” Soyombo noted.
The Special Adviser stated further that the community schools were absorbed by the Prince Dapo Abiodun administration after they were rejected and left alone by the immediate past administration in the state.
“The schools was passed unto us. The last dispensation didn’t take it over; they didn’t absorb them. What we did was to absorb them.”
“What we looked at was the number of children that will suffer and the number of children that was going to suffer was going to be almost 9,000, because, instead of those children suffering like that, we will rather take them in and empower those schools,” she said.
Soyombo also disclosed that the state government took an audit of all schools in the state, including the absorbed 28 community schools, with the view of having a clear data of schools in the state. She dded that the absorption of the 577 teachers won’t affect the current process of recruiting 1500 teachers into the state owned schools.
She noted that even though they were given what look like the data of schools in the state upon swearing of the Prince Dapo Abiodun administration, but couldn’t work with the data because the data lacked the right information on the state of schools in the state.
“The absorption of the 577 teachers won’t affect the current exercise of recruiting 1500 teachers, it is a separate exercise, they gave us data when we came. There was no way we could run with the data because it was not clear on the areas where we will need teachers.
“The findings from our audit is that Ogun State is very lopsided: we had too many teachers in some schools, while some schools were quite under-staffed; so, the audit helped us a lot to solve a lot of issues,” she said.
Soyombo however fumed at the situation where some schools had no principal and vice principals for over two years and a teacher teaching about 209 students in a class, saying that such would not be allowed to happen in the state under the Prince Dapo Abiodun led administration.
She also disclosed that the state government has identified about 10 rural areas across the three senatorial district of the state with serious structural and teaching needs, saying that it was discovered that areas like Imeko-Afon, Ipokia, Yewa North, Yewa South, Ijebu North and Ogun Waterside were worst affected.
She promised that in the next few months, schools in these LGAs would have a new lease of life.

Corruption allegations trail Yaba Psychiatric hospital CMD, Dr Ogun Oluwayemi
One of the cardinal objectives and policy thrust of President Buhari Administration is the fight against corruption; however, this is not the case of the Chief Medical Director (CMD) of the Federal Neuropsychiatric Hospital, Yaba, Lagos State, Dr. Oluwayemi Cecilia Ogun who was alleged to have refused to vacate her office as the CMD despite clocking the mandatory retirement age of 60years since September 23, 2019.
This contravenes and is in deviance to the Public Service Rules (PSR) 0202810 of Chapter two (2) in relations to retirement, which states,
“The Compulsory retirement age for all grades in the service shall be 60 years or 35 years of Pensionable service whichever is earlier, and no officer shall be allowed to remain in service after attaining the retirement age of 60 years”.
Our investigation as confirmed by very credible sources who sought anonymity, revealed that the process for the appointment of a Medical Director of the Neuropsychiatric hospital Yaba in 2017, was skewed to favour the appointment of Dr. Ogun, owing to her affinity with the immediate past minister of health Dr Isaac Adewole, who disregarded the rules as advertised which prescribed the eligibility criteria of not being above the age of Fifty Five Years (55) as at the time of applying for the position of Medical Director as opposed to the regular standard obtainable for the appointment of medical directors across board for other Federal Medical Institutions in Nigeria.
From information gathered, her appointment specifically violated the 6th requirement for the position as advertised at the time that “candidate must not be more than fifty five (55) years of age, as Dr. Ogun was already 58 years old when she was appointed ( find attached Publication and nominal Roll)
Notwithstanding the curious circumstance of her now elapsed appointment, The investigators also gathered that the CMD who clocked 60 on 23rd September, has refused to proceed on terminal leave, as required by law and has now resorted to lobbying high level officers of the Ministry of Health, to extend her tenure, by referring to an already suspended circular by Mr. President on tenureship which is an affront to the anti-corruption agenda of the Federal Government.
It has also generated bad blood amongst her colleagues who are of the view that the intent to elongate her elapsed tenure is vile considering the manner she vigorously fought her predecessor who allegedly attempted to extend tenure illegally.
However a petition has been written against her by the JOINT HEALTH SECTOR UNION for gross abuse of office and corruption.
In the petition sighted by our Investigators, dated 15th of February 2019, she was accused by staff members amongst others of outsourcing the account department without going through the necessary procedures, which is strongly against the Financial regulation of the establishment.
It was gathered that she was also once invited by police force headquarters CID Alagbon, Lagos to answer for allegations of corruption and abuse of office.
It was also noted that in 2018, she singlehandedly bought a vehicle worth N40million with funds meant for another purpose despite having two functional official vehicles.
our source also hinted us that she bought a personal 2019 model Camry car worth 26million naira which was packed in front of her quarters.
Similarly, she was accused of having sacked all hospital contractors and suppliers, awarded contracts to her relatives at exorbitant prices far above the amount previous contractors charged, according to the petition. Most of the companies used for the hospital contract owned by her husband and cronies.
All efforts to contact her proved abortive as at the time of filling this report.

We would Resist Attempt By Cabal To Create Northern Oligarchy For Selfish Interest – Yoruba Council of Youths Worldwide
The Apex body of the Yoruba Youths, Yoruba Council of Youths Worldwide(YCYW) has raised alarm over what it termed the plot of Aso Rock cabal to foist “Northern Oligarchy” on the Nation.
Speaking to the journalists in Lagos on Monday, the President of the Yoruba Council of Youths Worldwide, Aremo Oladotun Hassan,Esq said the news making rounds on the surreptitious humiliation of the office of the Vice-President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo is targeted at weakening the the highest political office exclusively and democratically meant for the south-western people of Nigeria, while causing unnecessary hullabaloo within the political family of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, with the sole objective of orchestrating an attrition towards dividing the good people of South West(Yoruba) in general, while setting them on a collusion cause against other southern regions, clandestinely to prepare the grounds for unimpeded easy conquest of the region in furtherance of their plots to eternally perpetuate Northern domination, post-2023.
He said, “We are not oblivious of the premeditated plans by some cabal within the Presidency to play divide and rule chess game in the South West”. He further noted that, the cabal has seen Osinbajo as a threat, hence the well-orchestrated plot to bring him down by all means, and further implants evil seeds of discord in the country.
“We want to make it clear to the public, that the people of the South-West are smarter and very perceptible. They can never fall for such devious machinations aimed at weakening the South West to pave way for the Oligarchy to continue to dominate Nigeria, even after 2023 when President Muhammadu Buhari’s legally entitled 2nd term in office would have expired”.
We shall resolve at the appropriate time on the best choice candidate and party from the region for President come 2023 based on concerted synergy and trust with other regions, for it is too early to distract governance and debar dividends of democracy expectations of the majority of Nigerians at the expense of flimsy political treachery.
The nation is undergoing lots of harrowing times viz: insecurity, poverty, corruption and need to strengthen rule of law, hence the need for absolute cooperation by all tiers of governments, alongside critical stakeholders and the civil society on the need to jointly fostering aggressive human resources growths, infrastructure and short and long term economic sustainable development programs.
Nigerians are aware of the “hyenas and Jackals” that have held Aso Rock villa to ransom, which necessitated the alarm raised by First Lady, Hajia Aisha Buhari sometimes ago that “one or two” people, that were not elected have hijacked governance and are ruling by proxy.
“Let us restate our resolve to defend the interest of the South-West and by extension rally nation-wide support to thwart the systematic denigration of the Office of Vice-President (OVP). We would do everything within the ambit of the law and with available resources at our disposal to stop the onslaught of the cabal”.
