“I assure you all that my administration will not rest or relent as I will  work tirelessly to develop Abeokuta south federal constituency.

“Eid-el-kabir offers an opportunity to remember the submission of Prophet Ibrahim Alaihis-Salam to Allah, by which he taught the world the value of sacrifice in relating with one another.”  felicitates with Nigerians as Muslims Celebrates Eid Mubarak

OGUN IMMIGRATION SERVICE COMMENDED FOR ROLE PLAYED IN ENSURING SECURED BORDER

The Nigerian Immigration Service, Ogun State Command has been commended for its role at ensuring that migrants from other countries vying to enter the country through the state during the last general elections were stopped from gaining access, as their safe passage could have spelt doom for the electioneering campaign.
The commendation was made today by the Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, while he received the State Controller of the Nigerian Immigration Service, Comptroller Doris Braimah and his team, described the cooperation between the state and the service as cordial.
Abiodun who noted that the service rendered by the command was pivotal at ensuring that only those that were citizens were allowed to vote in the border areas, adding that the command rose up to the occasion to ensure that the borders were well manned and protected against external forces.
” I know without going into details what the service did, particularly around election period where we were worried about the influx of migrants from other countries to cause mayhem on the election day, your service rose up to the occasion and ensured that our borders were indeed protected and movement were curtailed,Only those that are citizens were those that voted in those border towns,” he said.
The governor while commending the men of the command for a job well done, said he believed that the level of commitment seen from men of the command would definitely be improved upon under the leadership of the new controller who recently resumed in the state.
He commended the Immigration Service for opting to have a passport front office in Sagamu, saying he hoped the office would be improved upon and made a full fledged office as the people of the town had done a lot to ensure the service was comfortable by building and donating a office for the passport front office.
” I want to commend the Immigration Service for the front office in Sagamu, that front office, I hope it becomes a full fledged office, our people in Sagamu, am sure you are aware, they built that office themselves out of their desire to have a passport office in Sagamu,” he said.
Abiodun who noted that the registration of foreigners to be embarked upon by the Immigration Service was of utmost importance to the state, added that the registration would aid the state government to have a better understanding of what it’s security apparatus should look like, especially when foreigners are involved.
Abiodun noted that the state would not condone any form of lawlessness, criminality and cultism, adding that his government would ensure that the state remains peaceful, as the state being the home to the largest number of industries in the country, would not allow any thing that would undermine it’s desire to continue to pull into the state more industries.
Earlier in her remarks, the Ogun State Controller, Immigration Service, Comptroller Doris Braimah noted that the command would play its role as a worthy partner in ensuring that the security architecture of the state was developed, adding that they would join hands with other security agencies in the state to ensure that lives and properties were protected.
She said that the registration of foreigners which commenced recently in the country would afford the state an opportunity to have a proper data of foreigners leaving in the state.
The Comptroller had in her team, DCI Sophia Bright, DCI Tajudeen Ogunkanmi, DCI Odaleje David, ACI Idowu Ayegbusi, ACI Murana Hassan and DSI Ishola Olurode.
Meanwhile, the Ogun State Governor has  assured the League of Imams and Alfas  in the state of his administrations desire to continue to give to the people good and qualitative governance.
Abiodun who made this known in his office, Oke Mosan, Abeokuta, while receiving the League of Imams and Alfas of Ogun State, said that he was delighted that the state was able to prepare for the Hajj exercise, despite that his administration only came in at a time when preparation ought to have reached a concluding stage.

Abiodun also disclosed that at a private meeting he had with the president, the president told him that he decided to honour the late MKO Abiola, because the president was overwhelmed by the fact that the late politician, who was a Muslim, ran a Muslim-Muslim ticket and still won the election, saying that President Buhari believed that if the late politician had become president, issues bordering on religious interference could have become a thing of the past.
In his response, the Chief Imam of Ogun State, Alhaji Liadi Orunsolu commended the governor for ensuring the smooth passage of pilgrims to the holy Land of Mecca, saying that the League of Imams and Alfas in the state would continue to support his administration.

We are going to sponsor bills to protect the interest of journalists – Hon. Temitope Adejojo

The Ogun State Assembly Press Crew which comprises of various media houses representatives paid the Chairman, House Committee on Information, Culture and Tourism in person of Hon. Yusuf Temitope Adejojo a courtesy visit today at his office and conducted a brief interview concerning the journalism in the state and highlighted below are few of the questions asked;
What are your plans to improve services of the Information agencies in the state?
We would visit them and do our oversight function and they would tell us where they need us to help them so as to provide more effective services. Moreso, we have different programmes to put in place to improve different services.
What are you doing concerning freedom of journalists in discharging their duty?
First and foremost, I would like to commend the good job of  journalists in Ogun State, you all are doing  good job. We are planning on sponsoring bills to protect the interest of journalists and also to improve the remuneration being received at the moment, which would encourage you all to be more proactive, efficient and effective during the course of discharging your duties which would be communicated as when due.
On a final do you think there’s freedom of Information (FOI)?
I don’t know about other states, but in Ogun State we don’t hide information and even  before now, the Speaker of Ogun State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Oluomo Taiwo Olakunle was on live radio at Sweet FM 107.1 on 2nd of August, 2019 to give information about activities in the house to make sure our people are adequately informed about the ongoing activities in the house.

I’m a Noise Maker, I’ll Shock you all, Abiodun Spits Fire against Critics

Ogun State Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun has cautioned critics of his new administration to put their tongues on paths of positive drive. He noted that the delay in his appointments is solely his responsibility and not that of any leader in the State or Outside, Says appointees will be made to sign performance bond.
He also warned that serving as a commissioner in his government will not be a jamboree, because every appointee will be made to sign a performance bond to meet a set target within a stipulated period, failing which he or she will be kicked out.
Governor Abiodun also dispelled the rumour that he was bitter about the emergence of Architect Lekan Adegbite, the candidate of his immediate predecessor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, as the ministerial nominee from the state, saying that whoever emerged as the ministerial nominee would not diminish his plans to deliver quality service to the people of the state.
He asked indigenes of the state who are used to the lousy style of some governors to prepare their minds for a huge disappointment if they expect him to adopt same, because it had never been his style to be loud, much less make a show of any action he has to take.
He was reacting to a question as to why he was yet to be seen on the television and other media platforms like some of his counterparts, ordering the demolition of structures or taking some other rascally actions to give the impression that they are working.
“If I am not making a noise, it is because it is never in my nature to do so. I will rather do what I want to do without necessarily making a noise about it,” he said.
He recalled that in the build-up to the 2019 elections, he came under pressure from many concerned people who felt that he had yielded the media space completely to his rivals. He said that when the pressure became intense, he decided to honour an invitation extended to him by a popular television station to appear for an interview, but it turned out to be one of the most embarrassing moments of his life.
He said for reasons he could not fathom, his interlocutor became so aggressive and sentimental such that he came away with the impression that the interviewer was doing someone’s bidding.
He said: “I had never been so embarrassed. I only stopped short of asking the interviewer, ‘Did someone pay you to do this to me?’ There and then, I decided that we would do the rest of our campaign quietly. And as God would have it, we came out victorious.”
He was quick to add, however, that his position should not be construed to mean that he considers talking to the media as noisemaking, saying that he sees the media as partners in progress.
“If I had not been talking to the media or granting media interviews before now, it is probably because I was media shy,” he said, vowing that all that would change now that he is in the saddle as the governor of Ogun State, because he will have to continuously reach out to the people that elected him as their governor.
The governor had started the media interaction by rolling out his plans for the state in such areas as education, health, agriculture, security, infrastructural development and job creation, which he said were all aimed at making life easier for the people of the state.
On education, for instance, he said the state government had resolved to build one standard primary school in each of the 216 wards in the state as the first step in the effort to rescue the sector from decay. The state government, he said, is planning to build farm settlements around the state, equipped with extension services as the first step in his administration’s effort to turn the state into the nation’s food basket.
The governor said there were plans to revive the dilapidated government-owned hospitals around the state towards making efficient health care services available to the people. Already, he said, a panel had been raised by his government to look into the conditions of Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital (OOUTH) and make the necessary recommendations for its revival.
He said there were plans to rebuild many of the state’s strategic roads, including the Atan-Agbara Road and others at the state’s borders with Lagos. He noted that apart from the jobs that these would generate for the hordes of unemployed youths in the state, there are other deliberate plans aimed at job creation.
Asked how he intended to generate funds for the numerous programmes he had outlined, Governor Abiodun said the plank for funding would be private/public partnership (PPP). This option he believes would not be difficult to explore, given his background as a businessman with lots of goodwill in the private business sector.

Onaiyekan wants violent Fulani herdsmen cautioned

Onaiyekan wants violent Fulani herdsmen cautioned

The Catholic Archbishop of Abuja, His Eminence, John Cardinal Onaiyekan on Saturday called on Fulani leaders to caution their people against violence before things get out of hand in the country.

Onaiyekan, who made the call at a mass to celebrate his 50th Priestly Ordination Anniversary in Abuja, stressed that the Fulanis should be worried at the rate which they were being mentioned for something evil.

He noted that at this rate, very soon no place would be safe for Fulanis anymore because no one is safe at the moment because of Fulanis.

”If I am a Fulani, I will do whatever it takes to advise them to stop giving the Fulanis a bad name, because people are saying that every attack in the country right now is perpetrated by Fulani herdsmen.

”Many who were kidnapped, after their release report that their kidnappers were Fulani herdsmen, if we can start by cleaning up the Fulani camps so that those using the Fulani names for evil will not do so anymore.

”Rev. Fr Paul Offu, who was shot dead on August 1, 2019, was said to have been killed by some hoodlums suspected to be the notorious and murderous Fulani herdsmen,” he said.

He, however, prayed for the soul of Fr Paul Offu to rest in peace, adding: ”We pray that those whose job it is to secure the nation will brace up to the challenge and do what is required of them.”

Onaiyekan, who noted that he had never regretted being a priest, stressed that like every person in life, priesthood had its own challenges and as a priest there were sacrifices one must make.

”As a priest, you must be ready to sacrifice and get use to some of the inconveniences that comes with it, priesthood is not as difficult as they make it to look,” the Prelate added.

Mr Peter Onaiyekan, brother to Cardinal Onaiyekan said that he was proud to have a brother like him, and that the cardinal was the most intelligent in the family.

He noted that Onaiyekan was a true man of God and prayed that God continues to bless and keep him.

Bishop Anselm Umoren described the Cardinal as a humble, kind and committed man of God. (NAN)

Gov. Abiodun Will Perform Beyond People’s Expectations In Ogun – Olu Of Itori

One of the First Class traditional rulers in Ogun State, HRM, Oba Abdulfatai Akamo, the Olu of Itori Land, has said he could assure Gov Abiodun will perform beyond people’s expectations in Ogun State. He expressed this optimism in a Statement issued by his media aide, Prince Abayomi Gbadebo, in Itori on Saturday.
Gov. Abiodun has got the indispensable and unbeatable experience in the private sector and being a successful Entrepreneur, no doubt, the Gov. will perform.
Reeacting to a trend of “Gov. Abiodun yet to perform as Governor”, the monarch said, “It is too early to judge and wrongly criticise any serious and sincere Nigerian Governor who is ready to serve and one, who really knows what he is doing. Some also came in the past and tried to impress our people with some early performances but who were later cursed by same people who earlier praised them. We cannot continue to do things same way different times and expect different or better result. Any serious government would like to take its time to study various sectors as per where to start with a good plan. Similarly, any new government that rushes to execute projects may end up being a failed one. As I understand it, Governor Abiodun, being an administrator and politician, will prefer to take his time to study things and events before actions than rushing into executing projects that may latter be termed as deceit and scam.
This is even better than one trying to prove a magician that he is not. Look for instance, when Asiwaju Bola Hammed Tinubu became the Governor of Lagos in 1999, for more than 5 months, he was still taking his
time to study events and plans. However, when Jagaban kicked start, everybody knows his great impact in Lagos till date.
Thus, I don’t believe in rushing things and not getting things right. With the way Gov. Abiodun is operating, I have no doubt that His Excellency, will perform even beyond our expectations. Meanwhile, as a people, we shall continue sending him our prayers and by the grace of God who has chosen him to be our Governor, he will succeed”.
