How Atiku can win 2019 presidential election — Witches

The Association of White Witches in Nigeria (AWWN) has warned the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the February 16 election, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, not to repeat the mistake of former President Goodluck Jonathan in 2015, if he wants to win the election.

Jonathan, the witches said, refused to listen to “wise” counsel which eventually led to his losing the presidential election of that year to Muhammadu Buhari of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The group cautioned Atiku to hearken to instructions given to him if he actually wanted to win the election and redeem Nigerians from hunger and poverty orchestrated by the bad economic policies of the present administration.

Speaking in an exclusive telephone interview on Thursday, the spokesman of the association, Dr. Okhue Iboi, said for Atiku to win the election, he has to undertake the assignment of visiting the church, mosque, and the witches’ association for special prayers.

“These three spiritual places are keys in this year’s election. He has to go to these three places for special prayers to be offered on him. If he fails to do so and chooses to follow the way of Jonathan, then he should forget the presidency.

“In 2015, we told President Jonathan the same thing, but he refused and we all know what happened after that. Millions of Nigerians want Atiku to be the next president, but he has this assignment to undertake so that God can clear his way to win the election,” he said.

Dr. Iboi disclosed that in their meeting which was held in Calabar, the Cross River State capital in the first week of December, it was clear that the gods favoured Atiku to be the next president of Nigeria but on condition that he sought spiritual interventions.

“Atiku will win Buhari with a landslide if he obeys this simple instruction,” he said.

He also called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to resist any pressure and refrain from any clandestine plan to manipulate the results of the election to favour a particular candidate.

He added that whether the Federal Government deployed troops in the guise of ‘Operation Python Dance’ in all parts of the country, it would not alter anything if Atiku obeyed the instruction given to him.

“Elections will be peaceful. But if INEC manipulates the result, there will be serious chaos in the country. INEC must be truly independent. INEC must be neutral so that Nigeria does not experience post-election crisis,” Dr. Iboi said.

The witches’ spokesman revealed that the PDP would lose Ogun State if the party did not give the governorship ticket to Senator Buruji Kashamu.

According to him, “Kashamu is destined to win Ogun State for PDP, but if the party denies him the ticket, they will lose. Kashamu has the grace of followership.”

Iboi, who predicted MKO Abiola’s stalemate of 1993, Gen. Sani Abacha’s death, and several other national issues accurately, further disclosed that the killings by the Boko Haram terrorist group in the North-East would continue except the politicians who sponsor the insurgents were apprehended and subsequently prosecuted.

“President Buhari knows those who are sponsoring Boko Haram.”

Amina Zakari appointed as INEC’s Head Of Collation For 2019 Elections

INEC Appoints Amina Zakari Head Of Collation For 2019 Elections

INEC National Commissioner Amina Zakari

The Independent and National Electoral Commission (INEC), has appointed Amina Zakari,  a national commissioner at the commission to head the collation centre of the elections.

Newsjaunts reports that Zakari was appointed to head the committee on collation centre, one of the two committees for the election which the commission inaugurated on Thursday in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital.

INEC chairman, Mahmood Yakubu, who spoke during the inauguration, said the committee shall be responsible for the national collation centre – the International Conference Centre – from where results of the Presidential election will be announced.

“It will serve as the secretariat for collation of results and venue for briefing of international observers and the media,” Yakubu said.

Before her recent appointment, the national commissioner was once appointed the acting chairman of INEC.

Zakari had been at the commission’s department of health and welfare after being redeployed as the head of electoral operations and logistics.

Her redeployment took place after the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Nigeria’s main opposition party accused her of working for President Muhammadu Buhari and demanded that she be moved.

PDP spokesman, Kola Ologbondiyan, had said in a statement: “While Prof. Mahmood Yakubu can no longer be trusted to conduct the 2019 general election, it is public knowledge that Mrs Amina Zakari, the INEC Director in charge of Operations and ICT, is a direct blood relation of Mr President and as such, we believe that she cannot be an impartial arbiter in an election involving her uncle.”

The opposition party had also told the commission not to “bow to pressure” and return Zakari to her former position. The second committee, on electoral logistics, is chaired by Ahmed Mu’azu, a national commissioner.

The committee includes key government institutions and security agencies whose roles according to the chairman are defined in the electoral act.

4,000 Persons Defect to ADC in Ogun

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Ogun State has disclosed that over 4,000 executive leaders and members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Accord Alliance, among others, defected to the ADC within two days during the Yuletide.
The party particularly attributed the feat to the guidance of former President Olusegun Obasanjo, and the frictions in both Ogun APC and PDP, assuring that its governorship candidate, Prince Gboyega Nasir Isiaka, would win with a ‘landslide’.
The state chairman of the ADC, Gbolade Osinowo, disclosed this Wednesday in a statement issued on his behalf by the party’s state publicity secretary, Mr. Abiola Odutola.
He said, “The new converts, who held key positions at the state and ward levels in their former parties, joined the party after they had realised the importance of joining the moving train that will legally take over power from the ruling party in the state.”
He said the defectors were received by respective party leaders and other executive members in Odogbolu, Ijebu North East, Ijebu-Ode, Abeokuta South, and Sagamu, among others.
According to him, key people in APC, PDP and AA who abandoned their parties for the ADC include welfare officers, organising secretaries, ward executives and mobilisation coordinators across 12 out of the 20 local government areas in the state.
“The politicians defected following the ongoing crisis, division and dwindling fortunes of their former parties, which according to them, might affect the parties from winning elections in 2019.
“They have expressed belief in the ideology of our great party and willingness to work with our governorship candidate, Prince Gboyega Nasir Isiaka, popularly known as GNI.”
Osinowo added: “I assure all members that with the help of God and the guide of former President Obasanjo, ADC has an unshakable and formidable structure that no one with bad intentions can alter.
“The leadership of ADC at the state and national level is set to provide a responsible and responsive opposition till we take over in 2019.”
He noted that contrary to fears being expressed in some quarters that some of the defectors might have negative effect on the existing structure of the party, the reverse would be the case as the new members will be given requisite orientation.
He noted that the ADC was poised to end “the alarming scenario of bad governance, unemployment, economic lull, and insecurity created by the ruling party that has failed to admit its failure to deliver the professed ‘Change’.”
Meanwhile, the chairman of the ADC in Ogun East Senatorial District, Hon. Ladi Odujinrin, has said that apart from the 4,000 defectors, 1,000 other politicians were received into the party from his locality recently.
“The politicians understand the tide and decided to be proactive by positioning themselves in the party ahead of the 2019 general elections,” Odujinrin enthused.

Lawyers seek overhaul of Nigeria’s Criminal Justice system

Some Lagos-based legal practitioners on Thursday, called for a reform of the Justice system and the various provisions of its laws in order to enhance the Nigerian judiciary. Chief Judge of the Federal High Court, Justice Abdul Kafarati The lawyers told news men in separate interviews that the Nigerian legal system had been mired by many challenges ranging from applicable laws to their implementation.

They held that a review was now imminent and called for an overhaul of the legal system. A constitutional Lawyer, Mr Spurgeon Ataene, described the judiciary as embattled, especially with episodes of invasion of the homes of judicial officers, which had left a sour taste. “The arraignment of some judges is indeed a sad commentary for the judiciary; the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN) should evolve and articulate policies that will fortify the judicial arm of government,’’ he said.

Ataene called for an interface with the arms of government, in order to avoid serious conflict. “It is important for the CJN to interface with the executive and legislative arms of government in finding effective ways of resolving conflicts, rather than exposing the judiciary to needless public ridicule. “More so, it is important for Judges to deliver on their mandates, and endeavour to reduce the burden of justice on the citizens and not being overbearing,” he said. He also called on the CJN to restore the past glory of the judiciary. In the same vein, a lawyer and rights activist, Mr Anthony Makolo, called for the downward review of the cost of filing processes in court, to reduce the burden on the common man. “Prisons are exploding in population daily, and judicial officers are partly responsible for this.

“Judges and Magistrates should be bold in the interpretation of the law. “The Administration of Criminal Justice Law, must be strictly complied with to the latter, so that once the 60 days window lapses and no information is filed against an accused, a judge or magistrate is duty bound to set such accused free,” he said.

He said that applying the law with restraint had been the bane of justice delivery, adding that it should be discouraged. On his part, another rights activist, Mr Ogedi Ogu, clamoured for the judiciary to take a bold step in tackling the evident challenges in Nigeria’s criminal justice system.

“For instance, the judiciary must invoke its powers on statements obtained from suspects by way of torture, and inhuman treatments. “It is only when the judiciary takes a bold step and out rightly rejects such practices that those saddled with the responsibility of investigation would find other means of obtaining statements without inhuman treatments,’’ he added. Ogu urged judicial officers to be true administrators in the temple of Justice, and help restore the country’s judicial integrity. (NAN)

Biafra: Court Grants 51 Jewish IPOB Members Bail

Biafra: Court Grants 51 Jewish IPOB Members Bail
IPOB members dressed in Jewish robe, protest in Umuahia, Abia, Tuesday, December 11.

An Abia State High Court has granted bail to 51 Jewish members of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) arrested and detained in Umuahia, the Abia state capital.

Newjaunts reports that the detainees which included ten women and several elderly men were charged and remanded in prison after they shut down the streets of Umuahia last year December, demanding Biafra restoration.

This news medium recalls that the protest which came weeks after thirty-three members of the group were arrested in Nnewi, Anambra state and paraded for purportedly killing a police officer during its procession, was termed a “terrorist act” by the authorities.

In the 51 separate bail applications filed by their Counsels, Barristers Aloy Ejimakor, Toni Nwofor and Augustine Ezeokeke, it was argued that the Charges were unknown to law; and even so, that the offenses charged were bailable.

The Abia State High Court, in a special session convened for the purpose of hearing the bail applications, heard the applications today and granted the detainees bail on the same lenient terms and conditions.

Meanwhile, Newsjaunts reports that a special hearing was convened today for the matter. It was learned that this was due to the efforts made by Barrister Aloy Ejimakor, a special Counsel to IPOB, to get the matter quickly set before a court for a hearing.

The case was heard despite the fact that the Abia judiciary has not fully resumed work.

Acquisition of Keystone Bank, 9Mobile: Atiku chides

Former Vice President and Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, has lambasted the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over what he described as “failing to investigate how Alhaji Isa Funtua, a close ally of President Muhammadu Buhari, acquired Keystone Bank and 9Mobile (formerly Etisalat).”

President Muhammadu Buhari and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar Union Bank claims ownership of N1 billion recovered by EFCC at Enugu Airport Alhaji Atiku, in a statement by his Special Assistant on Public Communications,  Phrank Shaibu, said “the EFCC has failed to investigate the acquisition of the bank and telecommunications company because of Alhaji Funtua’s closeness to President Buhari.” According to him, “It is not surprising that the EFCC has suddenly become prostrate and bluntly refused to investigate the acquisition of Keystone Bank and 9Mobile which have been widely adjudged to be fraudulent, if not out rightly criminal.

The EFCC, like many other agencies under the administration of the All Progressives Congress (APC) led Federal Government has once again displayed partisanship. “More importantly, the said Isa Funtua has been known to be a major player in the Presidency whose influence and reach has been less than salutary. A recent picture showing the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Dr Godwin Emefiele bowing to Alhaji Funtua which recently went viral is proof enough of the stature of the President’s ally. The EFCC’s refusal to act therefore follows a familiar narrative”, he stated. The statement also takes a swipe at the Presidency for failing to come out clean on what it knows about the transaction and simply asking for proof before it could act, alleging that such a lame disposition exposes the culpability of the President’s men.

According to Atiku, “While we hold on to the piece of evidence that we have, it is no longer in doubt that underhand dealings took place in the acquisition of Keystone Bank and 9Mobile. The roles played by the Asset Management Company of Nigeria (AMCON) and the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC), both agencies of government have been widely reported and not controverted. The days of playing the ostrich by the Presidency are over. No more hiding for them”, he added. He referred the presidency to trending online reports which, according to him, “detailed how Alhaji Funtua reportedly bought over the bank and telecom outfit with funds provided by AMCON, whose Chief Executive Officer is a son in-law to the President’s friend.” Atiku said, “Considering that the EFCC and other related agencies would not act as a result of partisanship to the ruling APC, the only hope at this stage is the National Assembly which we urge should take up the gauntlet.”

“The National Assembly as representatives of the people is the last hope. We cannot allow the looting and criminal acquisition of our collective patrimony. They plan to steal more if President Buhari wins a second term. The National Assembly and Nigerians must not allow them take away legacies we ought to bequeath to generations unborn. We must rally against nepotistic rule and entrenchment of parochial cleavages as we have witnessed under the APC”, he declared.

APC Suspends Governors Okorocha, Amosun, Reject Their Billions Of Naira Support For President Buhari’s 2019 Campaign

Dec 27, 2018 12:29 PM

The All Progressives Congress, APC, has finally suspended the Governor of Ogun State, Ibikunle Amosun, and his counterpart from Imo State, Governor Rochas Okorocha, and the Minister of Communication, Adebayo Shittu, from being part of the of the APC Presidential Campaign Council.

Party sources revealed that despite their expression of support for President Muhammadu Buhari’s rerun aspiration, both Governors and the Minister, would be kept at arms length from the Presidential campaign, billed to take off in the early weeks of January, next year.

The revelation came just as the Spokesman of the APC Presidential Campaign Council, Festus Keyamo, has dismissed concerns over the campaign programme of the APC, saying that, the party will not copy the campaign style of the main opposition party, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

A reliable source in the APC, disclosed that the list of membership of the campaign team is ready, and that the President has given the National Leadership the nod to unveil it.

It was gathered that the APC Campaign Council would include all the National Officers, all the Governors (excluding Okorocha and Amosun), and National Assembly members elected on its platform, as well as former Governors and top Leaders in the six geopolitical zones of the country.

A top member of the APC, who is close to the APC National Chairman, Adams Oshiomhole, said that the National Working Committee, NWC, has made its stand on the matter known to Buhari, who has given the party the go ahead to constitute the Campaign Council.

“The party is insisting that only very committed members will be nominated into the campaign team. It cannot be those who are opposed to the Leadership, or have shown divided loyalty”, the source said.

The source added that Oshiomhole is not disposed to having some personalities, especially Okorocha and Amosun, manning key positions in the campaign structure.

He said that the party Chairman has described the actions of the two Governors as highly antagonistic, and as such, should not be rewarded with a front seat position in the Campaign Council.

Oshiomhole was also said to have informed Buhari that the Campaign Council should be made up of only committed party men, and not those that have divided loyalty.

He was also said to be against allowing those who are still pursuing their cases in court against the party or their sponsors, from joining the Campaign.

Shittu, is also angry at his disqualification by the party from participating in the primary elections.

Shittu, who is among those pursuing cases in court against the party, has blamed his ordeal on Oshiomhole.

It was learnt that the anti-Oshiomhole Governors are still scheming to win the heart of the President, and to convince him of their support during next year’s elections.

Another source at the party Headquarters, stressed that the face-off between the Governors and Oshiomhole, and the efforts to reconcile them, have also affected the full commencement of APC Campaign.
